Superintendent Maria Geryk and Town Manager John P. Musante are
pleased to announce that, through the new Out-of-School Time partnership
between the Amherst Public Schools and the Town of Amherst, the Amherst
After School Programs are poised to serve more children with activities
and enrichment opportunities that are well-aligned across all program
sites beginning with the 2012-2013 school year. These opportunities will
include visual and performing arts, instrumental lessons, cultural and
language activities, outdoor education, health and wellness programs,
and academic intervention and enrichment through the Five-Colleges
Danielle Phillips of Capacidad will continue to direct the after
school program at Fort River Elementary; Janna Essig of the Marks Meadow
After School Program will continue to direct the after school program
at Wildwood Elementary; and Grace Marczuk of LSSE Prime Time will direct
the program at Crocker Farm Elementary. James Regan, Out-of-School Time
Coordinator, will seek grant funding for the after school programs on
behalf of the program. Mr.
Regan’s counterpart for the Town of Amherst is Stacey LeCuivre, LSSE
Youth Program Director. In addition to overseeing the grant funding for
the programs, Mr. Regan and Ms. LeCuivre will work closely with the site
coordinators to develop opportunities for all students.
Superintendent Geryk stated, “This is an exciting time as we leverage
our resources in partnership with the Town of Amherst to strengthen our
already outstanding after school programs and serve more of our
Town Manager Musante stated, "I am excited to be partnering with the
Amherst Public Schools and the creative and experienced program
leadership team we have assembled to work with our young people."
